Liposuction or Tummy Tuck

What should I choose Liposuction or Tummy Tuck?

When fighting the battle of the bulge, one of the first things you notice is the overabundance of weight loss gimmicks that are available and promise “to be the magic pill that keeps you svelte and fit for the rest of your life!” The smart people realize there is no truth to most of the claims,  but there are some weight loss tools that are valuable and helpful for you, with liposuction topping the list. Abdominoplasty can be an important tool as well, but only in certain cases, and since a tummy tuck is a major surgery, there are many times when liposuction can do the work of a tummy tuck without the risks and complications. Read on to learn more about the differences between liposuction and tummy tucks from Infini Phoenix Liposuction!

Side Effects

While Liposuction is a surgical procedure, it is a minimally invasive one and lacks the risks associated with a tummy tuck.  Infection, reactions to the anesthetic, and other complications are risks involved with any major surgery.

Liposuction Procedure

When choosing liposuction, the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, with only a local anesthetic and possibly a mild sedative to calm the patient. A tiny incision is made, into which a cannula is fed; fat is then vacuumed out. Bruising, swelling and a minimal loss of blood can occur during recovery, but patients can resume normal life activities within a few days.

Abdominoplasty Procedure (Tummy Tuck)

Much more invasive and complex than a liposuction procedure, the tummy tuck procedure involves major surgery. Performed under general anesthesia, the doctor will make a large incision above the pubic area (in case of excess fat in the pubic area – you might consider FUPA liposuction), making the patient’s abdominal wall visible. He then sutures the muscles together, pulls down the skin, and trims away any excess skin on the lower abdomen. Recovery time is extensive and comes with scarring, heavy swelling, and bed rest. It takes up to eight weeks before the patient can resume normal activities.

Cost of Phoenix Liposuction vs Tummy Tucks

Tummy tucks can be prohibitively expensive in comparison to liposuction costs.

Benefits of Liposuction

Overall, the benefits of liposuction far outweigh any risks that may be involved. The patient’s mobility is improved, keeping fat off for the long term allows you to live longer, and the confidence the patient gains from seeing that slim and attractive person in the mirror every morning cannot be overrated. Confident people are happy people, and happy people live longer.
