Liposuction
Traditional Liposuction vs. Modern Liposuction
When it comes to the plethora of treatment options for fat sculpting, which do you choose? Traditional liposuction has been largely considered a smart, safe, and effective option, which is also cost-friendly. But are there options that may be better?
Liposuction – It’s All We Do
The quick answer is yes! Let’s explain the main differences between liposculpture and traditional liposuction, but first, let’s see what liposculpture is? Liposculpture uses similar principles to traditional lipo, in that fat cells are suctioned and permanently removed from targeted zones in the body. Nevertheless, this procedure uses more effective ways to get the job done.
Gentle Sculpt™ is a proprietary sculpting technique only available at Phoenix Liposuction, designed to gently harvest fat cells with the use of smaller instruments and incisions. Our Infini doctors use a combination of technologies and cannulae types that allow them to remove fat without causing much change to the skin, blood vessels and nerves. Thanks to a unique local anesthetic technique, patients are awake and safe during the entire procedure.
Using Gentle Lipo™ (a less traumatic liposuction method) we can help maximize survival of the extracted fat cells while smoothing out irregularities, producing finer contouring results. The results are superior with barely visible bruising and significantly shorter recovery times.
With Gentle Body Sculpture™ the extracted fat cells are then processed using a special proprietary purification and decantation method that will help them survive the next stage of the procedure. The final step is the fat transfer to the regions that need volume enhancement to create a more sculpted, better proportioned physique. Patients receive customized post operative instructions for rapid and comfortable recovery.
Differences between traditional and modern liposuction
Traditional Liposuction |
Liposculpture | |
---|---|---|
Pain Control | Usually general anesthesia – gas, sometimes IV sedation | Local anesthetic (numbing) |
Costs | Add facility and anesthesia costs | Usually less |
Risks | Much higher complication rate | Lowest rate of complications documented in the medical literature. Greatest patient satisfaction documented in the medical literature. |
Expectations | Much less precise because of large instruments and sleeping patient | Desired improvement with greater proven safety. |
Bleeding | Significant blood loss Transfusions can be required | Minimal blood loss. Patient usually loses more blood during a blood test than with these procedures |
Pain | Significantly more. Requires immediate and prolonged use of pain killers. | Often minimal because much less trauma caused to the body with the extremely small instruments |
IV Fluid Needs | NOT a tumescent technique, misleading if stated so. Need IV Fluids to replace what is lost | As seen on Dateline and 20/20 news shows. The replacing fluid has already been in the tumescent Solution. No extra IV fluids are needed. |
Recuperation | Usually double or triple that of tumescent | Faster recuperation time, walk-in-walk-out surgery may be done as an in-office procedure |
Return to Work | Return to work in days to weeks | Usually can return to work the next 1-4 days depending in the treatment size |
Inventing Special Ties | Invented by: Italian OB-GYNECOLOGIST | Invented by: Dermatologists |
Suction Cannula Size | Lager instruments means greater chance of skin irregularities | Smaller “micro” cannula (instruments) leave minimal surface changes and minimal or no scars |
Operative | Usually hospitals; Sometimes surgical center; Less office based | Usually in office suite. Sometimes in a surgical center. |
Anesthesia
In most cases traditional liposuction uses general anesthesia or IV sedation, which comes with many side effects, while liposculpture uses only local anesthesia.
Recovery Times
Due to the less invasive techniques used during liposculpture, recovery times are less. As an example, local anaesthesia is used, less bleeding occurs, and instruments, like laser lipo, offer more precise results, with less pain and trauma. For liposculpture patients, many can return to work within acouple of days, while traditional liposuction may take weeks for full recuperation to be completed.
Tools and Technologies
Traditional liposuction uses what’s now considered to be outdated tools or micro cannulas that may be too large and also increase the risk of scarring. On the other hand, liposculpture uses micro cannulas that measure roughly the size of a ball point pen tip, causing less surrounding tissue damage, as well as lower risks of scarring. Think of the former “traditional liposuction” like what we now regard as a bulky desktop computer – many of us would trade these in for lighter, more effective options, wouldn’t you agree?
Results
Study after study reveals that liposculpture yields more precise results compared to traditional lipo surgery. Many patients, for example, report botched surgeries with traditional lipo methods.
