Stomach Liposuction or Abdominal Liposuction

Even after adhering to a strict diet and exercise program, many people still have stubborn fat around the midsection.

Are you frustrated with the fact that no matter how much you work out or eat healthily, you still can’t seem to achieve a flat tummy? Belly fat is notoriously tricky. Whether you have excess fat after being pregnant or recently lost weight but can’t seem to get rid of the belly bulge, a fat removal procedure like abdominal liposuction can help you achieve a toned, slim, and flat midsection. Stomach liposuction is a quick, safe procedure that can drastically change the shape of your body.

How Does Stomach Liposuction Work?

Liposuction removes excess fat through a tube, called a cannula, in a specific area of the body. In most cases, a tumescent solution is used to help break up the fatty tissue to remove localized fatty tissue. Lipo can help create a slimmer, more toned stomach by permanently eliminating body fat. At Phoenix Liposuction, we contour and sculpt the abdominal area for natural-looking results. Lipo is a relatively non-invasive procedure, unlike other plastic surgery like a tummy tuck procedure.

Liposuction can also remove unwanted fat deposits or bugles from other body areas, including the sides (love handles), arms, chin, legs, and buttocks. Once the fat cells are taken out, they are gone for good. However, it’s vital to maintain your weight and lead a healthy lifestyle for long-lasting results.

What Are the Different Types of Stomach Liposuction?

Modern liposuction techniques have made the procedure quicker, safer, and more effective. Here are a few examples of the different types of stomach lipo to consider.

Tumescent Liposuction – Tumescent liposuction is the most common type of liposuction procedure. Tumescent lipo uses a small tube or cannula to remove the excess fat from the abdominal wall. Tumescent fluid is injected into small incisions around the midsection to numb the area before the fat cells are permanently extracted.

Tumescent liposuction works exceptionally well to remove excess fat that is hard to remove through diet and exercise. In addition, the tumescent fluid helps break down the cells, making them easier to remove.

Vaser Liposuction – Vaser diminishes unwanted fat and sculpts the area with noticeable skin tightening. Vaser is excellent for patients who want to achieve a flat tummy and take body sculpting results one step further. With this technique, ultrasound waves break up and soften fat cells to make them easy to remove.

Abdominal Liposuction – Stomach liposuction is often used when there is a certain amount of localized fat cells in the midsection. If you have reasonably good muscle tone and skin elasticity, abdominal lipo can drastically change the appearance of your abdomen.

Most abdominal liposuction techniques also use tumescent liposuction, which offers improved safety and better results compared to traditional liposuction techniques.

Liposuction Vs. Tummy Tuck: What’s the Difference?

If you’re looking to achieve a slimmer midsection, you may be looking into various cosmetic procedures like a tummy tuck or a mommy makeover. Tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty) and liposuction are two very different types of surgical procedures to achieve a flat tummy. While both approaches can drastically improve the abdominal area, they offer unique results. For example, abdominoplasty is better for addressing excess skin and loose muscles, while liposuction targets isolated fat pockets.

One procedure is not better or worse – it all depends on the patient and your body goals. Read on to learn more about the differences between liposuction and tummy tuck surgery.

Liposuction:

If you’re only looking to remove localized fatty tissue in your abdomen area, stomach liposuction can safely remove excess fat without the risks of general anesthesia and long recovery times.

Liposuction is a quick procedure usually performed under twilight or local anesthesia to keep you comfortable and pain-free. You will stay awake during the surgery but will not feel pain. The small incisions in the midsection usually don’t leave visible scarring. There is relatively little downtime after liposuction, and most patients are able to return to normal activities within 2-3 days after treatment.

Additionally, lipo can be performed alongside other body contouring procedures like breast augmentation, breast reduction, or a BBL.

Who is Liposuction Best For?

Liposuction is ideal for patients with generally good skin elasticity and muscle tone. Lipo does not remove or treat issues like excess skin in the stomach area or loose abdominal muscles. Additionally, lipo is not a weight loss procedure. Ideal candidates should be at or close to their goal weight for around one year before having liposuction. Keep in mind that while fat cells are permanently removed, weight gain after lipo can affect the results. Maintaining a healthy weight with a regular diet and exercise is vital to avoid new fat in your midsection.

Tummy Tuck:

A tummy tuck is a more invasive plastic surgery requiring general anesthesia and a longer recovery period. A board-certified plastic surgeon should always perform this surgery for your safety. The surgeon will remove excess abdominal skin and tighten the abdominal muscles. An incision is made across the lower abdomen to remove excess skin and tighten slack muscles. The remaining skin is re-draped over the abdominal area to reveal a flat and tight stomach. Skin laxity isn’t an issue.

The recovery is more complex and more painful compared to liposuction. Most patients can only return to normal activities after 3 to 6 months post-op. Some patients may also opt to have a breast augmentation or breast reduction at the same time, which will increase the recovery time.

Who is a Tummy Tuck Best For?

Patients with loose skin or stretched muscle tissue (not fat) will benefit from a tummy tuck procedure. These issues will often arise after significant weight loss or pregnancy. Ideal candidates will be close to their ideal body weight but have loose skin that is unreceptive to exercise.

What to Expect After Stomach Liposuction

Shortly After the Procedure

Most patients who have abdominal liposuction will have slight swelling, bruising, and discomfort after the procedure. In most cases, the pain is minimal, and most patients can use over-the-counter pain medication to help ease any discomfort. You’ll also be given a compression garment to help the healing process and reduce swelling while your body heals. Usually, the pain diminishes entirely within 2 days of the procedure. However, it’s important to wear your compression garment for the recommended period of time.

Recovery Time

You’ll return home following your stomach liposuction procedure. Keep in mind that it’s not permitted to drive following any type of surgical procedure, so please arrange a ride home with a trusted friend or family member. All patients should avoid strenuous activity until the doctor gives the all-clear. A lot of patients can return to work the day after surgery. However, if your profession requires more physical activity, you may have to plan to take off a couple of days.

At-Home Aftercare

Once you leave the clinic, good hygiene and proper wound care are essential to avoid infections or complications. In most cases, patients are encouraged to shower at least once per day starting the day after the liposuction surgery. You may also be prescribed an antiseptic wash prescribed before surgery.

At Phoenix Liposuction, we’re committed to keeping you safe. You’ll receive full aftercare instructions tailored to your unique treatment. We’re always here to answer any questions and ensure you have the information you need when you leave the clinic. Additionally, you’ll have a follow-up appointment after surgery to ensure your body is healing properly.

How Much Does Stomach Lipo Cost?

Every case is unique. The cost of your treatment will depend on a few factors like the amount of fat removed, the type of anesthetic used, the complexity of your case, and other unique details of your treatment plan.

On average, liposuction can cost approximately $3,500, which usually includes all fees. You’ll be given an exact quote for your procedure that aligns with your desired liposuction results during your initial consultation with us.
